Beaches-area voters must request a mail ballot by 5 p.m. Oct. 22 for the Nov. 3 general election. Requests go through the Duval County Supervisor of Elections office.

Supervisor of Elections Jerry Holland's office posted the deadline and instructions on its website, giving voters two ways to make the request: by phone or in person.

Two ways to request a ballot

To request a ballot by phone, voters call 904-255-VOTE (8683). Callers must provide their full name, date of birth, Florida driver's license or ID number (or the last four digits of their Social Security number) and the election they want a ballot for. Voters whose mailing address differs from their residential address should have it ready.

Ballots can also be picked up in person at the elections office, 105 E. Monroe St., Jacksonville.

Mail ballots cannot be forwarded

Mail ballots cannot be forwarded. The U.S. Postal Service will not redirect them, so voters must specify whether the ballot should go to their legal residence, a permanent mailing address or a temporary address when they file the request.

Registered voters can request a mail ballot for a single election or for all elections through the next general election. After that cycle, a new request is required.

Registration deadline is Oct. 5

The deadline to register to vote in the Nov. 3 election is Oct. 5, according to the Duval County Supervisor of Elections' social media account.

Early voting runs Oct. 29 through Nov. 1

Early voting runs Oct. 29 through Nov. 1 at 24 sites across Duval County, according to the office's general election preparation report. Weekday hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Weekend hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Beaches Branch Library at 600 3rd St. in Neptune Beach is a designated early voting location.

Election Day polls open at 7 a.m.

On Election Day, Nov. 3, polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. across 159 precincts countywide.
