Neptune Beach is accepting applications for openings on three city boards: the Community Development Board, Historical Review Board and Finance Committee.

The city posted its call for applicants on Oct. 26, 2026. The notice says applications are accepted on an ongoing basis and sets no deadline.

Community Development Board

The Community Development Board serves as the city's local planning agency under Chapter 163 of Florida Statutes. It reviews special exceptions, land-use policies and preliminary development plans, and hears variance applications and administrative appeals, according to the city's board page. The city lists regular meetings for the second Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m.

Finance & Auditor Selection Committee

Ordinance 2025-04, adopted April 21, 2025, established the committee as a City Council special committee. It serves as the city's auditor selection committee under Section 218.391 of Florida Statutes and advises the council and city staff on financial matters, including non-pension investments, debt and asset management, budgets, budget transfers, bonds, and fiscal and investment policies.

The committee has three members: one City Council member, who chairs it, and two public members with backgrounds in accounting, banking, business or finance. Members serve two-year terms, may be reappointed for one additional consecutive two-year term, and receive no compensation. The ordinance requires at least one meeting each month, during normal office hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Historical Review Board

The city created the Historical Review Board through Ordinance 2025-05. The city's board application says the board meets each calendar month.

How to apply

The city's board application asks applicants for their name, address, occupation and length of residency in Neptune Beach, along with their qualifications and interest in serving. It also asks whether they are registered voters.

Completed applications can be emailed to City Clerk Catherine Ponson at [email protected], delivered in person or mailed to the City Clerk at 116 First St., Neptune Beach, FL 32266. The city notice lists (904) 270-2400 for questions.

The city application says appointed board members must file a Form 1 financial disclosure within 30 days of appointment and annually afterward.
