The Beaches will have a namesake shop inside Jacksonville International Airport's new Concourse B when it opens Jan. 27, 2027.
City issues permit for Beaches-branded store
The city issued a build-out permit Sept. 1 for The Beaches@Jax, a travel essentials shop, at a project cost of almost $1.16 million. Jacksonville-based Auld & White Constructors LLC is handling the construction, the Jacksonville Daily Record reported.
Four retail shops permitted for new concourse
The Beaches@Jax is one of four retail shops permitted for the $344 million concourse and the airport's baggage claim area. Seven Bridges Marketplace, Postcards from Jacksonville and Five Points General Store also received permits Sept. 2. The shops will sell travel essentials, locally made items and brands including Lego, Toys "R" Us and Sweet Pete's Candy.
Permits total roughly $5.63 million across the four shops.
Local coffee, seafood restaurants join the lineup
The concourse is also adding restaurants with local roots. Pura Bean Coffee Co., founded in 2011 and located at 14286 Beach Blvd. in Jacksonville, received its build-out permit Tuesday, Sept. 8, for a 1,496-square-foot space at a cost of $600,000. The coffee shop plans to partner with Jacksonville bakery Village Bread and Bagel to expand its airport menu.
Salt & Tide, a seafood-focused restaurant, is still in permitting review at an estimated cost of $1 million for 3,237 square feet. It would be the first seafood restaurant at the airport since it opened in 1968, Jacksonville Aviation Authority senior properties manager Jeff Taylor told the board. Paradies Lagardère Travel Retail will manage both Pura Bean and Salt & Tide under 15-year leases the JAA board unanimously approved Feb. 2.
More chains awaiting permits
The board also approved leases for Cantina Louie Mexican Street Food, Chick-fil-A, Panda Express, V Pizza and Willie Jewell's Old School Bar-B-Q. Those tenants are still awaiting permits.
Host International Inc. will manage the concourse's 3,814-square-foot Oak & Ocean Food Hall, under construction at a project cost of $6.285 million.
Concourse targeted for late-December completion
JAA Chief Operating Officer Tony Cugno told the Jacksonville City Council Finance Committee on Aug. 27 that the concourse is targeted for a certificate of occupancy on Dec. 30. He said "vendors will take several weeks to set up shop and train employees" ahead of the Jan. 27, 2027, ribbon cutting, the Daily Record reported.
American Airlines intends to begin flights from the concourse's six new gates Jan. 28, 2027.
