Beaches voters can watch Duval County test its ballot-counting machines before the Nov. 3 General Election.

Supervisor of Elections Jerry Holland said in a Sept. 22 press release that the County Canvassing Board will hold a Public Logic and Accuracy Test on Thursday, Oct. 1, at 2 p.m. The test, required under Florida Statute 101.5612(2), checks the automatic tabulating equipment that will count votes on Election Day.

The session is open to the public. It is scheduled from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Elections Center, One Imeson Park Blvd., Building 100, Jacksonville 32218. The time window is tentative and could be extended if necessary.

A separate notice from the elections office states the Oct. 1 date itself is subject to change. Residents should check duvalelections.gov for updates before making the trip.

The Canvassing Board for this election includes Judge Robin Lanigan as chair, Holland, and Jacksonville City Council Member Michael Boylan. Judges Michael Bateh and James Nealis are listed as alternates, according to the board's public notice.

Starting Monday, Oct. 5, the board will hold daily public sessions beginning at 8:30 a.m. to open and process vote-by-mail ballots. Public comment is allowed at those sessions, which run through Monday, Nov. 2.

The board must file the Official Certification of Results by noon Monday, Nov. 16. The full Canvassing Board schedule is posted at duvalelections.gov.

Here are other key dates for the General Election, according to the elections office preparation report:

• Thursday, Oct. 22, 5 p.m. — Deadline to request a mail ballot.
• Thursday, Oct. 29, through Sunday, Nov. 1 — Early voting at 24 sites. Weekday hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; weekend hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Tuesday, Nov. 3, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. — Election Day at 159 precincts.
