Jacksonville Beach's Seawalk Pavilion will transform into a Bavarian-style celebration Friday and Saturday, Oct. 16-17, as the 11th annual Beaches Oktoberfest brings German food, live music and traditional festivities to the oceanfront.

The festival, billed by organizers as Florida's largest Oktoberfest celebration, runs from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday and noon to 10 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free, with paid beverage experiences and VIP upgrades available.

Beaches Oktoberfest President Niko Costas appeared on WJCT's First Coast Connect ahead of the event to preview the celebration.

German food, live music, competitions

Festivalgoers can enjoy bratwurst, pretzels, schnitzel and other German specialties in the Bierhalle, according to the official festival website.

Beer stations throughout the grounds will offer local, regional and international selections, along with nonalcoholic beverages.

The entertainment program features national, regional and local performers playing rock, indie and electronic music. Traditional polka bands will perform in the Bierhalle and other festival areas.

Organizers also promote Oktoberfest traditions, including stein-hoisting and bratwurst-eating competitions.

Beverage experiences and VIP packages

Although admission is free, guests must purchase an Oktoberfest Experience ticket or a VIP package to buy and consume alcohol on the festival grounds. Alcohol-related tickets are restricted to adults 21 and older.

The Oktoberfest Experience includes access to German beer and beverage stations, the Bierhalle and a festival passport. Guests who collect four passport stamps can redeem them for a commemorative stein, available to the first 5,000 qualifying participants, according to a Country 99.1 WQIK event listing.

VIP packages include access to private bars, preferred viewing and seating areas, air-conditioned restrooms, preferred entry and a kickoff party. VIP guests also receive access to designated viewing areas near the main stage and inside the Bierhalle, subject to seating availability.

Premium VIP packages add complimentary beer in designated VIP areas and complimentary German food in the Bierhalle.

Single-day and two-day ticket options are available through the festival's website.

What attendees should know

The festival takes place at Seawalk Pavilion, Latham Plaza and the municipal parking lot in Jacksonville Beach.

The main entrance is on First Avenue North, across from Cup of Job and Surfer the Bar. All attendees must enter through the designated gate for security screening.

Organizers recommend walking, cycling or using rideshare services because parking is limited. Paid parking and some free street parking are available nearby.

The event is cashless and will take place rain or shine. Chairs are prohibited, although blankets and towels are permitted. Bags are subject to inspection, and re-entry is allowed.
